You buy Pro once, without a subscription. The key arrives by email and covers every version released in the 12 months after your purchase; you keep using those versions without expiry.

On macOS, prompts, rules per program and silent mode need the system extension that comes with the signed version. Until then Kestrel watches every connection and blocks data collectors through its DNS filter.
